Embed the compact status widget

A current, plain-language table of every jurisdiction's Nurse Licensure Compact status, for your own site. Free to use, no sign-up, no key.

Why we made this embeddable

Compact status is the sort of fact that goes stale quietly. A nursing school page listing member states, written correctly in one year, becomes wrong the moment a jurisdiction implements — and nobody is assigned to notice. We maintain that dataset anyway, so the useful thing is to let you point at ours rather than copy a snapshot that will drift.

The widget updates when our data does. You do not have to do anything, and you do not have to trust us blindly either — every jurisdiction links through to its own page, where the board, the governing statute and the implementation dates are cited.

Copy this

Paste anywhere HTML is allowed. Adjust height to suit your layout; the content reflows to the width you give it.

  width="100%"

If you would rather not embed

Plenty of sites cannot run iframes, and a citation is just as welcome. A text credit is enough:

<p>
  Compact status data from
  <a href="https://www.compactstates.com/compact-nursing-states">CompactStates.com</a>.
</p>

If you want the underlying figures for a chart, article or research piece, the data hub publishes the whole dataset as CSV and JSON with provenance for every field, and the adoption timeline gives sourced enactment and implementation dates for every jurisdiction.

Terms, in plain words

  • Free, for anyone. Schools, employers, agencies, associations, writers, competitors. No permission needed and nothing to sign.
  • Keep the attribution link. It is the only thing we ask, and it is why this is free. Do not remove it or hide it with CSS.
  • Do not present it as licensing advice. It reports what jurisdictions have done, not whether a particular nurse may practise — that depends on the individual licence, and only a board can answer it.
  • We may correct the data. That is the point of embedding rather than copying. Status was last reviewed 2026-07-31.

Before you embed

It is free, with no sign-up and no key. The arrangement is that you keep the attribution link, which is the only thing asked for and the reason the widget exists. There is no fee now and no plan to introduce one.
