Nurse license verification for employers
Work out which board of nursing controls a nurse’s license, whether compact privilege can apply to your engagement, exactly what to verify, and what belongs in the credentialing file. Free, no login, and no personal data required.
Where they legally live — this is the state that issues their license
The nurse is physically here.
The compact covers RN and LPN/LVN only
Nothing you select is stored or sent anywhere. Do not enter a nurse’s name or license number — this tool does not need them and has no field for them.
Select the nurse’s home state and where the work happens to get a verification plan.
How does an employer verify a compact nursing license?
Verify with the board that issued the license — the nurse’s primary state of residence — using Nursys QuickConfirm, which shows license status and whether a license is single-state or multistate for participating boards. Then confirm the state where the work happens actually honours compact privilege. Both must be true, and a multistate designation must be on the record — a license from a compact state is not multistate by default.
