What Nursys shows
Nursys QuickConfirm reports the license type (single-state or multistate), current status, and expiration for participating boards. It is the fastest way to confirm whether a license carries compact privilege.
Checking with the Guam Board of Nurse Examiners
For anything Nursys does not show — or to confirm official requirements — go to the Guam Board of Nurse Examiners. The board is the authority on Guam licensure; we do not make licensure determinations.
Why no Guam license is multistate yet
Guam has enacted the compact (March 5, 2021) but has not finished implementing it, so the Guam Board of Nurse Examiners has not issued a single multistate license. Every Guam license in existence today is single-state, and verification will not show otherwise. What Guam does do is recognize privilege in the other direction: a nurse holding an active multistate license from their own compact home state may practice here. The two halves of implementation are separate, and Guam has completed only one of them.
What trips people up in Guam: Two things to know. Guam’s material spreads across three domains: the board sits at guamhplo.org, its primary-source search at guamnursing.org, and Nursys carries the free public lookup — one more hop than New Mexico’s two-domain split. And an OFFICIAL verification requires a signed authorization to release information from the licensee, plus a $25 fee. That consent requirement is unique in this cohort: an employer cannot obtain an official Guam verification independently, the nurse has to sign first, so it belongs in the hiring timeline rather than being discovered at the end of it. The board licenses RNs, LPNs, APRNs and CNAs.
RN, LPN/LVN, and APRN
Verification works the same for RN and LPN/VN licenses. APRN authority is separate and verified per state — see APRN and the compact.
