Continuing education in Guam
Guam does not publish a nursing continuing-education requirement online. That is our finding rather than an omission — we looked in each of these places and found none:
- Guam Board of Nurse Examiners page at the Guam Health Professional Licensing Office — no mention of continuing education, contact hours or CEUs
- Guam Health Professional Licensing Office homepage — likewise nothing
Ask the Guam Health Professional Licensing Office, which administers the Board of Nurse Examiners. Guam is worth asking twice about: it recognizes an incoming compact license but does not issue multistate licenses to its own residents, so the requirement that applies to you may depend on which of those two positions you are in.
We will not print an hours figure the board has not published. Any number you find elsewhere for Guam is being inferred from another jurisdiction, and renewing against it is a risk you would be carrying alone.
Renewing through the Guam Board of Nurse Examiners
Renewal applications, fees, and continuing-education requirements are handled by the Guam Board of Nurse Examiners. These are board-set and change over time, so we point you to the official source rather than list figures that could go stale. The law that governs this in Guam
Renewing a license issued by Guam happens under Guam’s own nurse practice act — the same act that defines what practice means here — administered by the Guam Board of Nurse Examiners. That act is Guam nursing licensure law (Guam Board of Nurse Examiners, HPLO).
The compact itself is separate law. Guam adopted it at 10 GCA ch. 12, art. 3A (Nurse Licensure Compact); added by P.L. 36-006:1 (5 March 2021), which is what allows a multistate license issued elsewhere to reach Guam at all — the practice act still decides what you may do once it does.

Renewal and out-of-state practice
A Guam license renews for Guam only. If you practice in other states, you either hold each state’s license or a multistate license from a compact home state — and that multistate license renews separately in that home state.
Can renewing in Guam get you a multistate license?
Not yet. Guam has enacted the compact (March 5, 2021) but has not finished implementing it, so the Guam Board of Nurse Examiners is not issuing multistate licenses to Guam residents. Until it does, renewing here produces a single-state license. Watch the board for an implementation date rather than treating the law passing as the finish line.
