Nursys QuickConfirm reports the license type (single-state or multistate), current status, and expiration for participating boards. It is the fastest way to confirm whether a license carries compact privilege.
Checking with the Indiana State Board of Nursing
For anything Nursys does not show — or to confirm official requirements — go to the Indiana State Board of Nursing. The board is the authority on Indiana licensure; we do not make licensure determinations.
Could an Indiana license be multistate?
Only if it was issued or upgraded on or after July 1, 2020 — the date the Indiana State Board of Nursing began issuing multistate licenses to Indiana residents. A license issued before then was single-state when granted, so a nurse holding an older Indiana license who has never upgraded will still verify as single-state no matter how long they have been licensed here.

What trips people up in Indiana: Indiana tiers this: the free search is updated in real time and is enough to confirm status, while a paid official verification returns additional fields in a printable format. For a credentialing file the paid version is usually what an auditor expects to see.
The compact statute in Indiana: Indiana is the clean structural opposite of Kentucky. Where Kentucky gives the compact one titled section inside the nursing chapter, Indiana gives it an entire separate article — art. 42 — sitting apart from art. 23, which holds the nurse practice act. So the nursing article is not where Indiana’s compact law lives, and a search confined to it finds nothing. The residence-change duties that catch nurses after a move are at IC 25-42-4-3 and 25-42-4-4.
RN, LPN/LVN, and APRN
