Could a Nebraska license be multistate?

Only if it was issued or upgraded on or after January 19, 2018 — the date the Nebraska Board of Nursing began issuing multistate licenses to Nebraska residents. A license issued before then was single-state when granted, so a nurse holding an older Nebraska license who has never upgraded will still verify as single-state no matter how long they have been licensed here.

What trips people up in Nebraska: Free online lookup, but note that Nebraska draws a hard distinction between two paid documents and the intuitive word gets you the weaker one. A CERTIFICATION carries the state seal and reports disciplinary action with types and dates. A VERIFICATION does not include the seal, the discipline history, schooling, or examination detail. If a receiving board or credentialing file needs discipline history, asking for a "verification" will produce a document that does not contain it.

The compact statute in Nebraska: Nebraska names the board’s executive director as compact administrator, and — unusually — legislates for the exit as well as the entry: the statute requires notice of withdrawal to every other party state within thirty days of any repeal. Most compact statutes describe only joining. Worth knowing that leaving is a defined procedure rather than a silent lapse.
