Nursys QuickConfirm reports the license type (single-state or multistate), current status, and expiration for participating boards. It is the fastest way to confirm whether a license carries compact privilege.
Checking with the Kansas State Board of Nursing

Could a Kansas license be multistate?
Only if it was issued or upgraded on or after July 1, 2019 — the date the Kansas State Board of Nursing began issuing multistate licenses to Kansas residents. A license issued before then was single-state when granted, so a nurse holding an older Kansas license who has never upgraded will still verify as single-state no matter how long they have been licensed here.
Beyond Nursys, Kansas publishes its own primary-source lookup: Kansas State Board of Nursing license status verification. Where the two disagree, the issuing board controls.
What trips people up in Kansas: Kansas runs KANN — Kansas Automated Nurse Notification — which tells enrolled employers and schools when a license status changes, including at renewal. That is the first state-operated continuous-monitoring service in this cohort; everywhere else, ongoing monitoring means a Nursys e-Notify subscription. It directly automates the "re-verify at renewal" step that otherwise depends on somebody remembering, which is the step most likely to be skipped once a nurse is hired.
The compact statute in Kansas: Kansas puts the whole compact in one numbered section inside the public health chapter rather than the professions chapter, so it sits alongside 65-1115 onward — the nurse practice act sections — rather than in a code title about licensing. The enacting vehicle was HB 2496 in 2018, which amended the Nurse Practice Act at the same time.
